The famous rapper’s appearance at the 2020 Oscars surprised everyone present. Eminem is not on the list of performing artists announced by BTB.
The 2020 Oscars ceremony is currently underway at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, with the first awards being announced. However, this year’s ceremony has already proven to be quite eventful, especially with the unexpected appearance of Eminem. The world-renowned rapper performed one of his biggest hits — “Lose Yourself.”
Prior to the event, the list of artists scheduled to perform during the ceremony did not include Eminem, so his surprise appearance on the Oscar stage created a huge stir.
Among the many accolades Eminem has received throughout his career, he won an Oscar in the Best Original Song category in 2003. The golden statuette was awarded for the song “Lose Yourself” from the film 8 Mile.
Years later, reflecting on his Oscar win, Eminem shared: “I slept through that night, I didn’t think I had a chance of winning because when I first heard I was nominated, I thought that award was meant for actors.”
With this mindset, Eminem did not attend the ceremony 18 years ago. After finishing his performance at the 2020 Oscars, he posted on Twitter: “Look, if you get another shot, another opportunity… Thank you, Academy, for giving me this. Sorry, it took me 18 years to get here.”
