Over time, Abiona began to trust Annie, sharing a tragic past of being taken from her family. Just as they grew closer, Abiona was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Her dying wish was to see her mother again.
Annie tracked down Abiona’s biological mother, but she refused to meet her daughter. Determined to fulfill Abiona’s wish, Annie hired an actress to pose as her mother, even using honey-scented perfume to evoke a comforting memory.
Abiona passed away peacefully, believing she was in her mother’s arms. Annie, heartbroken but fulfilled, had given her daughter love, comfort, and dignity in her final moments.
