Donald Trump announced a major cash bonus for more than a million Americans during his televised address on Wednesday evening (December 17).
Speaking live from the White House, the president reflected on his first 11 months in office. He quickly launched into a self-congratulatory overview of what he described as his administration’s accomplishments, emphasizing what those achievements would mean for Americans in the months ahead.

During the address, Trump revealed plans to issue a $1,776 “warrior dividend” to active-duty military personnel this holiday season. He stated that the payments were “already on the way” and expected to arrive within days.
“Military service members will receive a special — we call Warrior Dividend — before Christmas, in honor of our nation’s founding in 1776,” he said.
The proposed payments are part of a broader set of financial incentives aimed at specific groups of voters, seemingly designed to counter the president’s recent dip in polling numbers.
For many families, any additional financial relief would likely be welcomed, as large portions of the country continue to feel the strain of rising inflation. Trump argued that the current economic pressures were entirely the fault of his predecessor, Joe Biden.

According to Trump, Biden was responsible for nearly all of the nation’s current problems. He listed what he described as unchecked immigration, stagnant wages, soaring pharmaceutical prices, and a deteriorating economy as evidence of that failure.
“11 months ago, I inherited a mess, and I’m fixing it,” Trump said. “When I took office, inflation was the worst in 48 years, and some would say in the history of our country, which caused prices to be higher than ever before, making life unaffordable for millions and millions of Americans.”
Although Trump placed blame squarely on Democrats, he also offered insight into how he claimed he would address these issues, highlighting what he described as significant progress achieved under his leadership so far.
One of his proposed solutions focuses on dramatically reducing the cost of prescription drugs—by as much as “600 percent”—a move he said was made possible through the success of his tariff policies.
“I’m doing what no politician of either party has ever done, standing up to the special interests of dramatically reducing the price of prescription drugs,” Trump told Americans.
“I negotiated directly with the drug companies and foreign nations who were taking advantage of our country for many decades to slash prices on drugs by as much as 400, 500, or 600 percent.
“In other words, your drug costs will be plummeting downwards. I used the threat of foreign tariffs on countries who would never have done it, to pay the cost of this giant dollar reduction. They stopped ripping us off and it began as of four days ago.”
With the average American reportedly spending between $1,200 and $1,400 per year on medication, such reductions—if successfully implemented—could result in substantial savings for millions of people.
