“Your mother left you a letter,” the lawyer said, sliding a sealed envelope across the table. “But before you read it… there’s something you need to know.”
Peter glanced at his brother, puzzled. “What is it?”
The lawyer took a deep breath. “Your mother sold her house shortly before she passed. It was purchased for exactly one dollar.”
Mark shot up from his chair. “One dollar? That makes no sense—who would buy a house for that?”
The lawyer simply nodded toward the letter. “Read what she left behind. Then it’ll all make sense…”
What the brothers discovered next would challenge everything they thought they knew about their mother.
“Your mother sold her house to someone a week before her death,” the lawyer told the two men. “How could she do that?” one of them growled before the lawyer handed a sealed envelope to the brothers. “Here, read this. It’s a letter from your late mom,” he said.
