Officer Phylicia Carson, a devoted police officer and mother of six, tragically lost her life during a high-speed pursuit in the early hours of Sunday. While attempting to stop a speeding vehicle near the Lake of the Ozarks, the suspect fled, causing Officer Carson to lose control of her patrol car and crash into a tree, resulting in her death.
The suspect, 23-year-old Christopher Aaron Bishop Wehmeyer, continued fleeing but later crashed and was arrested. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating.
Officer Carson, who joined the Osage Beach Police Department in June 2023, was remembered as a dedicated officer and loving mother. Her death marks the department’s first on-duty loss in 30 years. The community, including Lieutenant Governor Mike Kehoe, has expressed deep condolences.
Wehmeyer now faces multiple charges, including the death of a police officer. Officer Carson’s bravery and sacrifice will always be remembered, leaving a lasting impact on her family, the department, and the community.
