On Christmas Eve, I went to my parents’ deserted house, which had been missing for a while, and discovered it was beautifully decorated

The last time I was at my childhood home was five years ago, right after my parents went missing on a mountain trip.
Recently, I decided to visit for the first time since then. But as I pulled up, I was stunned. The place looked abandoned — broken windows, covered in graffiti — but it was still beautifully decorated.
It was decorated just like my dad used to do when I was little, even with the same old decorations he used.
I rushed inside, and in front of the fireplace, I saw a shadowy figure sitting. Hesitantly, with a shaky voice, I whispered, “DAD?”

After being kicked out at 18, Megan turned her back on her family. Years later, she discovers her missing parents left their house to her. Though abandoned for years, she finds it decorated for Christmas one night and meets Max, a homeless man who used to live next door.

Max had been secretly staying in the house, using the decorations to relive better times. Touched by his story, Megan invites him to spend Christmas with her family. She decides to renovate the house, giving Max a fresh start while creating new purpose for her childhood home.
