Her daughter, McKenna Kelley, created a Spotfund to provide updates and seek assistance. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Kelley wrote: “Please consider helping our family out, and most importantly, please continue to pray.” She revealed that Retton does not have health insurance and has kept additional details private to respect her mother’s privacy.

Mary Lou Retton’s rise began in Fairmont, West Virginia. At the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, just weeks after knee surgery, she stunned the world by earning two perfect 10s in floor and vault.
