More heartbreaking details are emerging about the sudden passing of celebrity chef Anne Burrell.

The beloved TV personality passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 17, at the age of 55. She was widely recognized for her vibrant presence on Food Network favorites like Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and Worst Cooks in America.

Her family released a touching statement to share the sad news of her passing with the public.

“Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered.” the statement read.

“Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world.” Burrell’s family continued in the emotional message. “Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”

Only a few days before her sudden passing, Burrell had posted a cheerful photo on Instagram alongside a local New York legend affectionately known as ‘The Green Lady of Brooklyn’.

That once joyful Instagram post has since turned into a memorial, with an outpouring of heartfelt messages and tributes honoring her memory.

Burrell leaves behind her three children—Isabella, Amelia, and Nicolas along with her husband Stuart Claxton and stepson Javier.

It was Claxton who made the tragic discovery. According to reports from TMZ, he last saw Anne around 1 a.m. on June 17. Several hours later around six or seven—he found her unconscious and cold in the shower of their New York apartment.

Sources who spoke with the media outlet explained that Claxton called 911 immediately after finding her. Emergency dispatchers reportedly instructed him to attempt CPR while waiting for help to arrive.

Although her official cause of death has not yet been determined, a spokesperson for the New York City Fire Department shared that cardiac arrest is currently believed to be the likely cause.

Following the heartbreaking news, the Food Network issued a tribute to the star who made such a lasting impact on viewers and aspiring chefs alike.

The statement read: “Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent – teaching, competing and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring.”

“Our thoughts are with Anne’s family, friends and fans during this time of tremendous loss.”

Though Anne was known and loved for her skills in the kitchen, her academic background was actually in English and Communications. She completed her degree at Canisius College in Buffalo before taking the leap to follow her dream of becoming a professional chef by enrolling in culinary school.
