Not long ago, a man named Patrick opened up about how even walking up a flight of stairs left him breathless.

He told Mail Online that he felt like a ‘prisoner’ in his own body because of how ‘heavy, unhealthy and miserable’ he was feeling.

That’s when he decided to try the carnivore diet as a way to improve both his weight and his overall health.

The change was pretty dramatic. He shed a significant amount of weight, and according to him, he feels better than he has in a long time.

After hearing stories like Patrick’s, more people started giving the diet a try. Over time, people shared different outcomes from their own journeys.

While a few said they felt amazing, others had a tougher time sticking with it or didn’t feel any better.

YouTuber Jake Moscato was one of those who wanted to give it a shot. He joined in on the trend to see firsthand how it would affect his own body and to try and get himself into better shape.

But things didn’t go as smoothly as he expected.

Jake posted a video on his own channel where he opened up about the reasons he took on the challenge and the ups and downs that came with it.

He explained early in the almost 10-minute video that his goal was to feel healthier overall. But things got off to a rough start, and it didn’t go the way he had hoped in the beginning.

He admitted: “I knew this challenge wasn’t going to be that bad. Um, yeah, unfortunately looking back, I severely underestimated what was to come.”

“I don’t know if I felt chest pain, but I definitely felt something weird going on with my stomach, but I started feeling anxious.”

“So, almost like the mild depression, nothing. I’m not looking forward to anything. I’m so sick of this. I really am. I’m so sick of meat. I might go vegan after this.”

During the first two weeks, Moscato struggled to stick to the plan. A trip to California made it tough to follow such a strict diet, especially when carnivore-friendly options weren’t easy to find.

When he returned to New York, he continued slipping up and felt discouraged. He soon realized that he may have been going too hard on himself with such a strict approach.

He reflected and shared: “I was way too strict. Originally, I had the attention of doing the lion diet, which is just red meat and salt, that’s it.”

He continued by saying: “So, I figured something that I could do to get back on track is, is it, you know, keep the diet, ninety five, 97 red and do a little bit of fruit. Do a little bit of eggs, you know, a little bit of pork here and there, right? It’s not going to kill you.”

“So that’s what I did.”

After that adjustment, things started looking up. With a bit more flexibility in his meals—including things like pork, fruit, and eggs along with red meat—Jake stuck with the plan and powered through all 60 days, seeing big changes in his body along the way.

By the 23rd day, he noticed something unusual. His mindset began shifting, and the smell of red meat, which he had grown tired of, suddenly started to seem appetizing again.

When he received a package from Butcher Box filled with different types of meat, it made a big difference. He finally had variety, and that helped him enjoy his meals again instead of just eating ground beef all the time.

As he entered the second month, he started to feel a noticeable boost in his mood, energy levels, and mental focus.

After completing the 60-day challenge, Jake went to see his doctor and got blood work done to check how the diet had impacted his health. According to him, the results were seriously impressive.

He shared: “As far as muscle mass. We are up, I think, six pounds of muscle gain. Two pounds on this arm, two pounds of this arm, two pounds on my chest. Body fat from 16 to 14.6 per cent. Body weight, 208 pounds to 202 pounds, and I got pretty shredded.”

Then added: “All my results were good, like testosterone even went up, it went from 748 to 800, insulin super low iron, double iron, definitely double higher than that. I mean, everything [is] bringing up healthy.”
