Authorities are currently looking into what appears to be a heartbreaking case of triple murder-suicide involving a Nebraska family. The tragedy unfolded on the very same day one of the family’s sons was meant to celebrate his high school graduation.
On the morning of May 10, just before 9:45 a.m., officers from the Nebraska State Patrol responded to an emergency call at a residence near Johnson Lake in the Plum Creek Canyon area.
According to a statement released by the Nebraska State Patrol, preliminary findings suggest that Jeremy allegedly took the lives of his wife and their two sons before ending his own life.
On Facebook, there is information about Jeremy and Bailey being the founders of a group called Anchoring Hope for Mental Health. As high school sweethearts who had been together for over 25 years, they had been outspoken about issues surrounding suicide. They aimed to let others know they were “not alone” and were dedicated to spreading awareness about the ongoing mental health crisis.

One of the boys had been preparing to graduate from Cozad Community Schools. Following the incident, the school shared a heartfelt message on Facebook, referring to the event as a “tragic situation.”
A statement reads: “Cozad Schools was made aware of a tragic situation that will deeply affect our Cozad community. Our thoughts are with all those impacted during this incredibly difficult time.”
“We appreciate the strength and support of our community as we come together in care, compassion and unity.”
In a message shared later, the school added: “In light of yesterday’s tragedy, we understand that some students may be experiencing some difficulties. The high school commons will be open for students this afternoon from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. We will have school staff and counselors available for support.”

Following the tragic discovery, the Dawson County Attorney has directed autopsies for all four family members. Meanwhile, the investigation continues to unfold.
The Nebraska State Patrol is overseeing the case, with support from the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, Eustis Fire & Rescue, and the Dawson County Attorney’s Office.
